Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Sadly enough, empathy is something that I have just recently stumbled upon. Drunk on the possibility of another person’s mind state, things tend to make a little more sense as to why those associated with them make the decisions they do. It’s one thing to be sympathetic — to go “awww…”, give them a minute or two of your thoughts and move on with your day. …But to really engage yourself and experience the feelings and even attitudes of another is a powerful thing. It’s almost like an out of body experience; like you’re watching yourself in someone else’s body. Strange.
Once you’ve encountered such a feeling, you start to view things differently. You bite your tongue when you’re about to say something smart; You try your darnedest not to blink so that tear won’t fall down your cheek; The arrogance you’d usually say something with disappears. And all for the sake of someone else’s “feelings”, or what you presume to be such.
& it’s all so mystifying because they never even know it happens.
The things I do for people man, the things I do for people.
